AirMagnet Spectrum XT Delivers Breakthrough Wireless Spectrum Analysis with Powerful New Features and Universal USB Form Factor

Wednesday, Feb 17, 2010

AirMagnet Inc., a Fluke Networks company, today announced AirMagnet Spectrum XT, the industry's first USB-based professional spectrum analyzer solution that combines in-depth RF analysis with real-time WLAN information for quick and accurate troubleshooting of wireless performance problems. This new combined “impact analysis” view of RF interference on a network’s overall performance helps to more effectively pinpoint the root-cause of interference issues, enabling IT staff to quickly identify and troubleshoot RF issues that are more critical than others.

“RF interference can have a major impact on the overall performance of a WLAN. AirMagnet’s spectrum products have always offered the industry’s most comprehensive and powerful features for identifying and troubleshooting RF problems”

AirMagnet Spectrum XT is now available in the universal and convenient USB form factor, allowing it to be used on any notebook, netbook or Tablet PC. Spectrum XT detects, identifies and helps locate those individual sources of RF interference that impact the performance of the WLAN network, including non-WLAN devices such as Bluetooth, conventional/inverter microwave ovens, analog/digital cordless phones, digital video monitors, zigbee devices, game controllers, RF jammers, baby monitors, wireless cameras, and many more.

“RF interference can have a major impact on the overall performance of a WLAN. AirMagnet’s spectrum products have always offered the industry’s most comprehensive and powerful features for identifying and troubleshooting RF problems,” said Chia-Chee Kuan, VP of engineering at AirMagnet. “The latest release of AirMagnet Spectrum XT continues that innovation and further demonstrates our commitment to the product. By offering a combined view of the impact analysis of RF interference on a network's overall performance, Spectrum XT helps network managers pinpoint the root-cause of interference problems.”

AirMagnet Spectrum XT’s additional features include:

  • Expert RF Spectrum and Wi-Fi Graphing and Analysis – Spectrum XT offers unmatched RF spectrum analysis by delivering complete visibility into the physical layer of a WLAN. This includes graphs and analysis for Real-Time FFT, Spectrum Density, Spectrogram, Duty Cycle, Event Spectrogram, Channel Power, Interference Power, Channel Duty Power, and multiple trending graphs.
  • Visualize Impact of RF interference on WLAN Performance – Just plug in any AirMagnet supported wireless adapter, and Spectrum XT will instantly provide you with a combined or co-related single screen view, to help users directly visualize the impact of RF interference or interference sources operating in the environment on the overall true performance of the WLAN.
  • Automatically Detect, Identify and Locate Interference Sources in Real-Time – Spectrum XT automatically detects and classifies RF interference sources operating in the environment that impact the performance of the WLAN. Spectrum XT’s built-in device locator operates much like a Geiger counter and beeps louder as you get closer to the device, allowing users to quickly locate sources, even in hard to find places. Users can leverage the supplied omni-directional antenna or the optional directional antenna to assist them in the device search.
  • Spectrum Session Recording, Playback and Instant Playback – Spectrum XT users can save an RF spectrum scan, retain it as hard evidence and play it back at a later time for post-capture investigation and analysis, or share it with other users for collaborative analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Integrate with Professional Site Survey and Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Tools – Spectrum XT‘s integration with AirMagnet Survey PRO, allows users to perform spectrum surveys and provides a map-based view of the spectrum power levels and the interference sources. Spectrum XT also integrates with AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO to provide a complete view of interference due to Wi-Fi and non Wi-Fi sources.

Pricing & Availability

AirMagnet Spectrum XT is available now at a U.S. list price of $2,495. Until June 30, 2010, users can take advantage of the early-adopter program and purchase Spectrum XT at an introductory price of $2,195.
